Sixty watts of unadulterated Class A power. Italian craftsmanship distilled into a single, uncompromising instrument of sound. This is Magnetosolid®.
Where Tubes MeetSolid State
The Grandinote Solo is the culmination of decades of research by engineer and founder Massimiliano "Max" Magri. Grandinote has always orbited a singular obsession: why do tube amplifiers sound richer, and how can that warmth be preserved—and surpassed—without a single tube in the circuit?
The answer became Magnetosolid technology, first conceived in 1996 during Max's university years, refined through the original A Solo and Shinai models, and now elevated to its most complete expression in the new integrated Solo. It is not a hybrid in the conventional sense — it is a solid-state circuit architected with the topology of a tube amplifier, using ferromagnetic output transformers to achieve what tubes could never fully deliver: absolute bass control, a frequency response of 2Hz to 240kHz, and a damping factor of 150, all without a single feedback loop or inter-stage capacitor in the signal path.
"In the Solo, you don't just listen to music — you experience it. Every element has been meticulously designed to serve one purpose: to reproduce music exactly as it was meant to be heard."— GRANDINOTE, ON THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE SOLO

SELECTABLE SPEAKER OPTIMISATION
Made in Italy
The amplifier uses only two output transistors per channel (simple push-pull), with no negative feedback or counter-reaction, and a dedicated power supply for every device on board. The new switching power supply — built to electromedical standards — delivers a constant current regardless of signal level, on par with traditional toroidal transformers while enabling impedance-specific optimisation between 4 and 8 ohm loads. Heatsinks are 10% larger than the preceding Shinai, allowing more power at lower operating temperatures. Voltages have been raised from 60V to 96V — an increase of over 50% — maintaining signal purity while dramatically increasing headroom.
KEY FEATURES
Six Pillars of theSolo Experience
01
Magnetosolid® Technology
Conceived in 1996 and perfected over three decades, Magnetosolid® uses solid-state devices inside tube-style topologies with proprietary output transformers. The result: the warmth and dimensionality of valves combined with the speed, bass control and reliability of solid state — without the limitations of either.
02
Zero Capacitors in the Signal Path
The Solo is direct-coupled throughout, eliminating inter-stage capacitors entirely. No coloration, no phase shift, no signal loss. The audio passes from source to loudspeaker through the shortest, most transparent circuit Grandinote has ever engineered.
03
Pure Class A · 60 Watts
Every watt is delivered in pure Class A at all times. The power supply never modulates current based on the signal — consumption is constant at 270W regardless of what is playing, eliminating the dynamic artifacts inherent in AB-class designs.
04
9" Touchscreen Display
A large, colour-adjustable touchscreen dominates the front panel, offering real-time VU meters and a live spectrum analyser. Brightness, colour scheme, and display mode are all configurable, making the Solo as beautiful to watch as it is to hear.
05
No Negative Feedback
Unlike virtually every other solid-state amplifier, the Solo uses no feedback correction. The circuit is inherently linear, not corrected after the fact. This produces the open, effortless quality audiophiles associate with the very finest tube designs.
06
Fully Balanced · Dual Mono
Every stage of the Solo is fully balanced and dual mono, providing complete channel separation. Both XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced inputs are supported.
UPGRADE OPTIONS
A Complete Front End in One Box
The Solo is designed to evolve with your system. Two optional internal expansion boards transform it from an amplifier into a fully self-contained reference system, eliminating the need for external source components. Pricing is in USD at North American retail.
BASE PRICE
Solo Standard
$22,500 USD
The Solo in its standard configuration with four analogue inputs (2× RCA, 2× XLR), the full Magnetosolid® amplification stage, and the 9" touchscreen. Priced as reported at Capitol Audiofest 2024 and High End Munich 2023.
OPTIONAL BOARD
Celio Pre-Phono
Approx. $4,200
An internal phono preamplifier stage derived from Grandinote's acclaimed standalone Celio unit. Brings vinyl playback directly into the Solo without an external box, maintaining signal purity and system simplicity.
OPTIONAL BOARD
Alfa DAC / Streamer
Approx. $7,800
A high-resolution DAC and network streamer board capable of PCM up to 768kHz and DSD up to DSD256. Turns the Solo into a fully self-sufficient one-box system, streaming from any modern digital source.
HERITAGE & LINEAGE
Twenty Years ofMagnetosolid®
The Solo does not arrive without history. It is the product of an unbroken line of research that began before the company itself existed — a personal obsession turned into a craft, turned into a legacy.
1996
Massimiliano Magri, still a university student, begins designing amplifiers that use transistors in tube-circuit topologies with output transformers. The core idea of Magnetosolid® is born.
2002–2003
After years of tube amplifier enjoyment, Max makes the decisive switch to solid state, developing the first working Magnetosolid® prototype. Early challenges in bass performance drive further refinement.
2005
Grandinote S.R.L.S. is formally established. The original A Solo amplifier enters production as the first commercial Magnetosolid® product.
2007–2008
The Prestigio model refines the concept. The A Solo is discontinued, replaced by the legendary Shinai — and in an extraordinary gesture, all A Solo owners are offered a trade-in at a fair price.
2023
The new Solo is previewed at High End Munich 2023, marking a generational leap: 60W Class A (up from 37W in the Shinai), a 9" touchscreen, internal expansion boards, and updated Magnetosolid® circuitry running at 96V supply rails.
2024–2025
The Solo is demonstrated at Capital Audiofest 2024 and the Audio Video Show in Warsaw, earning widespread critical acclaim. At CAF 2025 it wins Best in Show from eCoustics.com alongside the Mach 8 Evoluzione loudspeakers.
WHITE GLOVES SERVICE · EFFORTLESSHIFI.COM
A Masterpiece DeservesMasterful Handling
The Grandinote Solo weighs 34 kilograms, houses proprietary output transformers of extraordinary precision, and costs as much as a fine automobile. It is not a product you order online and wait for a courier to drop on your doorstep. It is a statement — a long-term commitment to the pursuit of musical truth. And that commitment deserves to be honoured from the very first moment it enters your home.
This is precisely why EffortlessHiFi.com offers a White Gloves service purpose-built for instruments of this calibre. Rather than leaving a world-class amplifier to the mercy of standard logistics, EffortlessHiFi delivers, installs, and commissions your Solo with the same care that Massimiliano Magri invested in designing it. Their specialists understand the fragility of ferromagnetic transformers, the importance of correct impedance matching for 4 and 8 ohm load selection, and the operational subtleties of the Magnetosolid® circuit that make the difference between good and transcendent.
For an amplifier that asks you to trust thirty years of Italian engineering, you deserve a purchase experience that rises to the same standard.
